Update on Velveteen Dream’s NXT Status, Bracket Set for WWE U.S. Title Tournament, When Will Finals Happen?

WWE has released the above video, revealing the brackets for the upcoming United States Title tournament.

The next United States Champion will be decided in an eight-Superstar tournament, and here’s the full bracket.

WWE NXT star The Velveteen Dream has been inexplicably absent from WWE TV since he lost to Aleister Black at NXT Takeover WarGames back in November. Furthermore, The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports Dream has not been training down at the WWE Performance Center.

While it is unknown why Dream has been away from WWE since November, The Observer report notes he is on booking sheets after the New Year, making his return to WWE and NXT likely at some point in January.

As noted, Velveteen Dream was initially announced for the race to the Fatal Four Way match which took place on WWE NXT last night, however he was pulled from his qualifying match and replaced by Johnny Gargano, who ended up winning the Fatal Four Way. Gargano will advance to face Andrade “Cien” Almas for the NXT Title at WWE NXT Takeover Philadelphia over Royal Rumble weekend.
