News on Chris Jericho’s ‘Incredible’ Money Offer From NJPW

Dave Meltzer noted on today’s edition of Wrestling Observer Radio that there was more interest in Wrestle Kingdom 12, largely due in part to Chris Jericho’s presence on the card, than there has been for a non-WWE show since the death of WCW.

On the subject of Chris Jericho’s deal with NJPW, Meltzer noted Jericho received a huge money offer from the promotion, and Meltzer added the following.

“[Jericho] got an incredible offer [from NJPW]. It would scare people if they knew the offer. People would freak out if they knew the offer. He got an incredible offer from New Japan, and if you look at the financial results, he more than paid for it by what he drew.”

Meltzer went on to note that Jericho helped increase NJPW World subscriptions in addition to ticket sales for Wrestling Kingdom.
