WWE NXT Results
January 15, 2019
— Keith Lee started the show to a huge reaction. He praised the Undisputed Era for having an incredible 2019, calling their work and rise over the last few months better than anyone else… except him. Loud “Keith Lee” and “bask in his glory” chants throughout his whole promo. Undisputed Era ran out and Adam Cole reminded everyone what they’ve done to Velveteen Dream, Tommaso Ciampa, and all of Imperium. They beat down Lee, wrapped his ankle in a steel chair, and Bobby Fish jumped high into the air and stomped down on it.
1. Matt Riddle & Pete Dunne def. Mark Andrews & Flash Morgan Webster to advance to the semifinals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.
— A replay was shown of Undisputed Era attacking Imperium this past weekend at UK Takeover: Blackpool II. It’s announced that both factions will be on the show next week.
— Tommaso Ciampa came out and said Adam Cole was on his hit list. He’s on a quest to get his life back, and that starts with bringing Goldy home to daddy. He needs his life back. The Undisputed Era came out and beat the hell out of him, 4-on-1, until Johnny Gargano rushed the ring and unleashed hell. DIY destroyed Bobby Fish with Meeting in the Middle.
2. Grizzled Young Veterans (James Drake & Zack Gibson) def. Time Splitters (Alex Shelley & KUSHIDA) to advance to the semifinals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.
— Gibson refused to shake KUSHIDA’s hand after the match and cut a promo boasting about killing the Time Splitters reunion in its opening act. He also mocked the “Full Sail Hipsters”.
— Robert Stone was shown walking out of Full Sail University with Chelsea Green, to his fancy sports car outside. He reveals that he’s pulled Green from tonight’s battle royal because the crowd doesn’t deserve to see the hottest former free agent, and she’ll debut on NXT when the offer is better. The Robert Stone Brand. He’s basically Ryan from The Office.
— Finn Balor was shown backstage watching footage of Ilja Dragunov on the WWE Network. He put him over big as the real deal, but basically said that if you come for The Prince you better not miss, and promised to put Dragunov down at Worlds Collide.
3. Isaiah Swerve Scott def. Lio Rush and Tyler Breeze to advance to the NXT Cruiserweight Championship match at WWE Worlds Collide.
— Ciampa and Gargano were spotted talking outside the building. Both seemed to agree that a DIY reunion was a good idea. The Undisputed Era showed up with about a dozen security guards holding them back. Keith Lee came out of nowhere and literally pounced Bobby Fish through a bush. A brawl broke out and Lee started tossing bodies everywhere, throwing security guards into parked cars, random production equipment, etc.

4. Bianca Belair won a battle royal to become the #1 contender to the NXT Women’s Championship. The other competitors were Candice LeRae, Mia Yim, Mercedes Martinez, Io Shirai, Tegan Nox, Xia Li, Santana Garrett, Shotzi Blackheart, Katalina, Jesse, Vanessa Borne, Kayden Carter, MJ Jenkins, Kacy Catanzaro and Shayna Baszler.
— Some interesting stories were told throughout the battle royal that may turn into something down the road. Catanzaro got a huge reaction and “welcome back” chant after reports/rumors last year that she had left the business. She had a few crazy athletic spots that would give Kofi Kingston a run for his money. Mercedes eliminated an old rival in Mia Yim, and also had a tense staredown and trade with Baszler, who eliminated her. It came down to the WarGames team (Baszler, Io, Belair) 3-on-1 against Tegan Nox in a great bit of storytelling. She cleaned house and beat the hell out of all of them, but Dakota Kai ran out and threw her out of the ring. Shotzi was actually hiding under the ring and eliminated Baszler in a shocking moment. Belair eliminated her and Io in the final three to win.
