RAW Report 11/29/10 Philadelphia, PA

Click:Diffuser Bottles

I wanted to start this week’s three hour RAW with my predicts for KOTR. I will admit that I’ve bounced around too many ideas and emailed Richard a few times for his thought. Basically I’m right back to where I started, clueless! Looking at the Qualifiers from SD!, I’d love to se Kofi win, but I don’t see WWE giving it to him. So the only viable option would be Alberto Del Rio. I’m not a fan, but he’s getting an uber push and doing well if I don’t like him!

Then there’s RAW and a lot more questions. I don’t think there’s anyway Zeke will win, putting too many eggs in a very unknown basket, but how to get the rest past this monster of a guy? The only way to do that is to have Sheamus beat him in what could and should be a fabby match. Sheamus is a very possible choice for KOTR if they’re bringing HHH back to feud with him. But what about JoMo? They’ve been pushing him darn hard!

But then there’s Daniel Bryan Danielson! What better way to get the Divas falling all over the ‘nerd’ than if he’d KOTR? So yeah, basically I’m stumped and not giving you a predict other than to widdle it down by half. I’m guessing it will be any of – Del Rio, Sheamus, JoMo or Bryan. I’m also guessing that Juan Cena is going to annoy and piss us off as much as Mr. America. Further, I’m going to guess that it will fall as flat, or flatter than Hogan’s Mr. America did. The biggest question is, will Juan Cena’s merchandise, call phrases, etc, be as horribly annoying or more so than John Cena’s?

Show Starts

Video of last week’s main event. Nexus out to attack Orton, then were banned from ringside, but the damage to Orton’s knee was done. Wade went after the knee and appeared to have the match won until Cena rushed to ringside and pulled the ref from the ring. Cena attacked Wade, then Nexus attacked Cena. They chased Cena out. Wade walked into an RKO, Orton then pinned and retained. But then, Awesome! Miz out, preyed on a vulnerable Orton, reversed an RKO into a SCF and got the three to win his first WWE Championship! Orton looked as though someone had kicked his puppy.

Music and pyro.

Cole dubbed this start of the Era of Awesome! King had to calm him. King says it started in 1985 in Foxboro, MA. On the stage is the whole KOTR setup, including throne.

Alex Riley out to the stage in a suit, mic in hand. Hide your kids, hide your wife, don’t change the channel, this is Monday night RAW and Miz is Champion! Punk said Riley looked like he was dressed for court – another DUI reference! He said he got to be a part of one of the most groundbreaking moments in the history of entertainment. Like our parents won’t forget what it felt like to watch Neil Armstrong walk on the moon, we’ll never forget Miz cashing in his MITB! Cole is bouncing thrilled. Riley said it’s time to party! Punk said this guy doesn’t need anymore partying his life – DUI comment #2! Riley said if you’ve been online or listening to Punk’s God awful commentary last week, you’ll know Riley isn’t afraid of a party! The fans let him have it. Punk says what’s God awful is Riley’s wrestling. Riley said he’s throwing Miz the biggest party of all time! Punk says it’s a good thing a DUI – then I couldn’t catch the last bit, something about security. Riley says tonight’s RAW is all going A-Ry and going to be awesome!

KOTR Qualifying Match Alberto Del Rio Vs. Daniel Bryan

Alberto’s ring announcer into the ring and announces Alberto who drives in ala JBL. The announcer has a shiner from Big Show on SD! To announce and Punk’s in a suit jacket. He holds up the tag and says nothing says punk Rock like Men’s Wear House and Calvin Klein! He then goes on to say he stole VKM’s toupee as his hair is nicely combed the way VKM did so many years ago on announce. Bryan out to the ring, most likely killing my hopes of Bryan pulling this out in the end as the dark horse. Bryan appears to have a bit of a black eye too.

Alberto backed Bryan into a corner, but kicked him in the gut, no clean break. “Daniel Bryan” chants. Bryan into another corner, then kicks to the gut and one to the face. Side headlock takeover on Bryan and Alberto keeps the hold on. Shoulder block to Bryan. Alberto runs the ropes, over and over Bryan, but then into Bryan’s drop kick for two. Spine buster on Bryan, but he fights back trying to lock on, but can’t. Alberto to the ropes, then free and out.

Alberto goes up for a splash, but Bryan moves. Bryan rolls Alberto up for two. Bryan wrapped around Alberto, brought him down for two. Bryan mounts an offense, running up a corner, flipping over Alberto. Nice German on Alberto and Bryan bridged for two. Alberto kicked Bryan for telegraphing. Bryan fought back and drop kicked Alberto into a corner and got a long two on Alberto. Kicks to Alberto’s chest, but then Alberto hit a German and bridged for two. Alberto rushed Bryan, Bryan moves and Alberto flew out. Bryan flies out on Alberto, but slams into the barrier badly. Icky smoosh. Bryan up, but Alberto swatted Bryan away. Alberto locks on his arm breaker and Bryan has to tap out.

Advances – Alberto Del Rio

Video of Alberto flying out, then Bryan flying out on him, shoulder first into the barrier. Then to the finishing hold that Alberto didn’t want to let go of. Alberto was still strutting and posing in the ring.

The announce team talk about the brackets and how careers have been built with KOTR. They showed Edge – 2001. Stone Cold Steve Austin – 1996. HHH – 1997. Bret Hart – 1991 & 1993. Brock Lesnar – 2002. We all know what Brock’s gone on to.

– Commercial

R-Truth out to the ring, no Eve in tow this time. Gladly he’s no longer ‘crunk’ing it. R-Truth says he’ll say what’s up. Last week John Cena was forced to quit the WWE. Truth be told, he don’t care what nobody says, he’s still R-Truth’s friend and went out like a champ. Trooff is, when all this started, he tried to get Cena to quit then. He had to pay the Piper and it cost him what meant the most to him, the WWE Universe. Nexus may have won the battle, but war hasn’t’ even started yet! He challenges any member of Nexus to come down and go one on one with him!

Backstage Wade pushes McGillicutty out of the locker room. He says to Josh that R-Truth wants to issue challenges? Be a hero? He’s about to show what happens when you issue challenges to Nexus! McGillicutty stomps off and is attacked by? It looks like Cena from the knees down, right down to the hand motions. McGillicutty gets slammed all over the hallway, but we never see above Cena’s knees. Then a hand waves in true Cena form.

– Commercial

Cole says R-Truth challenged anyone to Nexus. McGillicutty comes out and was attacked. Punk says it was Cena who has no business being here, he was fired!

KOTR Qualifying Match – ‘Dashing’ Cody Rhodes Vs. John Morrison

As this is a KOTR match, guess R-Truth isn’t wrestling right now. JoMo out in his normal slo-mo way. He looks at the cape, crown, scepter, throne and points, smiles.

They circle, then lock up. Shoulder block to Cody, then JoMo runs the ropes and goes to punch Cody who protects his face. JoMo then gets kicked and hit at. JoMo moves and Cody eats a corner. Cody pitches a fit outside the ring. Back in and JoMo clotheslines Cody to the mat. Back and forth, then Cody clotheslines JoMo to gain control. JoMo whipped hard, then hit’s the mat. Cody gets one. Punk talks about VKM being in a coma. A couple hard knees to JoMo’s gut, then he gets two.

Reverse full nelson on JoMo in the center of the ring. JoMo gets free, but slammed to the mat. Cody gets the hold back on, then time JoMo gets free and gains some control with punches, then kicks. Major punches in a corner an JoMo is fired up. Two clotheslines, then a drop kick on Cody for two. Running knee from JoMo who misses and Cody rolls him up for two. Both men got for the flash kick, then a knee to the temple and JoMo gets three.

JoMo celebrates as Punk calls for replays in a sarcastic way, ripping at how predictable things are? JoMo will face Del Rio in the next round.

Miss USA Rima Fakih will be there to crown the new KOTR!

Drew McIntyre Vs. Ezekiel Jackson

Drew out, smirking and sneering in white (the one color no wrestler should mostly – personal opinion – explain why in RIB tomorrow). Zeke out to face him! Cole had no clue how Zeke beat Riley. King and Punk taunted Cole for that one.

They lock up Zeke all smiles Drew into the ropes to get free. They lock up and Drew pushes Zeke off into the corner. Cheap slap to Zeke. Zeke back with huge punches, then a clothesline. The fans love him, then a clothesline, then splash to Drew in a corner for two. Punk says a cover accidentally fell off. Cole and King didn’t seem to see it until Drew hangs Zeke up on it. (It wasn’t the big turnbuckle pad, but a smaller one leading to the post.) Zeke trying shake things off as Punk says this is why he’s the wrestler and Cole is whatever he is. Cole then corrects Punk, telling him he’s not a wrestler, but a Superstar. Drew pins Zeke for two. King says Cole has to be sports because he’s not entertaining. Punches on Zeke in a corner. Drew then pulls Zeke into a clothesline. Drew showboated and Zeke sent them both out. They fight outside as the ref counts. Drew holds Zeke’s ankle so he can’t get back the ring.

Double Count Out!

Zeke throws Drew back into the ring. Big back body drop to Drew. The winner of Sheamus versus Kofi automatically advances.

Backstage Bryan is icing. He asked a Bella about coming up during his entrance? She says she hadn’t seen him and – the other Bella up and called Bryan ‘stud’. Riley up and demands to know why they’re talking to that nerd? They’re supposed to be getting the 50 dancing girls. Riley on his cell, then off and tells them they’re not needed. Then Riley goes off on Bryan about having Miz mentor him on NXT, now he has nothing. All this could have been Bryan’s. Bryan says he’s just fine. The Bellas agreed that he’s fine. Riley says welcome to Miz-fest! Riley leaves and they all roll their eyes and talk smack.

Another video recap of last Monday’s main event and Miz ending up cashing in and winning the WWE Championship after Cena got involved. King wishes Orton a speedy recovery.

Justin announces ‘OUR’ new WWE Champion, The Miz! He comes out is a sweet plaid suit! Cole says he feels like a father, up and cheeringly loudly. Miz says he had a huge celebration planned for tonight, but in the end, he didn’t need it. He found something that summed up the feeling of the WWE Universe of him winning. First there was shock – Of course they went to the little girl. Then anger – the little girl again. Miz says she will forever be known as the Miz Girl and he wants to thank her. She reminds me of the struggle he went thought to get there. To everybody who said he wouldn’t make it. All the people at MTV who said he’d never be a WWE Superstar, then all in the WWE and the fans who said he’d amount to nothing! To the JBL’s, to the HHH’s, the John Cena’s, to them he says this – The Miz is WWE Champion! He gets mixed for this. What about the former Champion Orton? Pop for him. Randy isn’t there due to a knee injury. Right, the only thing injured is Randy’s pride. Now he’s ashamed to show his face. He shouldn’t be because Randy’s just the first in a long list of people he’s going to demoralize, because when he says he’s going to do something, he accomplishes it. Mark his words, he’ll be the longest reigning Champion in history. If we take anything from this speech – take this – if anyone says you can’t do something, can’t live your dream – you can’t! It takes an exceptional person to live their dream and he’s just. He’s nothing like anyone there or at home. We live our lives without accomplishing anything. He’s one in a billion as he reached his dreams. Two weeks ago Piper came here, stood in this ring and said in this generation they made things happen. Piper never made anything happen. In this book, Riley holds it up. It’s the History of The WWE Championship. Piper’s not in it because he never won the WWE Championship. Steamboat’s not in it as he wasn’t Champion. The list goes on with so-called HOFers, so called Legends that never won the WWE Championship. Magnificent Murraco, Mr. Perfect.

Finally Miz heard King on a mic trying to get his attention. The fans pop for King. He comes around and says as a person who’s name is on that list, congratulations are in order. Miz is the new WWE Championship, but let’s face it, he beat a guy who’d already been attacked by seven people before he won the Title. That may make Miz clever or an opportunist, but in King’s book and everyone there, it doesn’t make him awesome.

Miz asked, really? See, that sounds like ramblings of a bitter old man. Who fought for four decades and never did what he did in one night. Cole asks if they can stop. It’s bad enough King’s been – Punk asks if everybody can stop? Cole says it’s bad enough King’s been out here downplaying Miz’s victory all night. King even called it a fluke. Can King sit down and let Miz have his moment. King says he can, but if Miz is the Champion he says he is, he’d call out someone who wasn’t beaten down by seven others and give them a Title shot. Cole tells King to stop. If he doesn’t then Miz might make an example out of him. King might be that guy. King asks if Miz heard what Cole said? Some of the guys on that list are on there because they never had a Championship opportunity. To be honest with you, he’s been there since 1993 and hasn’t had a Title Match. You know what? If Miz is the Champion Miz says he is, what about giving King a Title shot?

Miz says it’s a great idea, but he’s not interested in defending tonight. King says Miz just proved his point. He may be a Champion, but he’s not awesome. He’s a coward. Miz says King’s pathetic, someone who been with in the business for 40 years and has never gotten anything. A shell of a HOFer.

Ding-Ding! Huge heat for Cole. And I quote, “Congratulations Miz, what you did last week was impressive. But that was last week, and this is tonight. So while you may not be interested in defending the WWE Title, I am. Therefore I’m making the main event the Miz versus Jerry Lawler for the WWE Championship tonight.” “Jerry!” chants fill the arena, but Cole says there’s more. “In three weeks there’s a PPV known as TLC – Tables, Ladders And Chairs.” Cole lets out a big breath! “And I can’t think of a better way to kick off the countdown to the PPV, than by making our main event tonight not just a Championship Match, but a TLC Match.” Miz isn’t happy, King smirked, then smiles and rubs his hands. Punk says it’s great to happen on King’s Birthday!

King’s headed back to the locker room to ready for his first ever WWE Title Match!

Kofi slammed down to the mat, then another knee to the back and his chin wrenched back. Kofi up to his feet, then elbows to Sheamus, then a reverse kick to his chest and kicks in a corner. Double axe handle to Sheamus’ chest, a drop kick, a clothesline, then a boom drop for two.

Kofi after Sheamus in a corner, but Sheamus moves and sets up Kofi for the high cross. Trouble in paradise, but Sheamus rolled under the ropes. Kofi tries to pull him in and Sheamus holds the skirt. He stops, jumps up on a bunch of anvil cases, points to Nexus, who rushed down to the ring, and says they can’t see him! The fans are freaking wild! Punk’s upset his diet soda was dumped. Husky and Otunga limp Slater out of there. Punk screams that they have the worst security!

Wade in and says Cena’s fired, so no restrictions to what they can do to him. Wade’s going to call Cena out, then they’re do it on their turf, not his.

Backstage King’s getting ready for his match when Arn comes up to him. Arn asks if it’s true? Yes. He says it’s long overdue. Arn says those TLC Matches are dangerous and there’s serious possibilities for injury. No one will think less off King for letting this one pass him by! King says honestly, he’s never been in a TLC Match, but he’s never been in a WWE Title Match either. He can’t pass it up. Arn says one thing left to do then, beat him! They shake hands, King thanks him.

Cole and Punk at a broken announce. Cole says he respects King, but there’s no way he’ll walk out Champion, if he walks out. Punk might have a permanent job. Punk says he is talented, but King can win this. Miz can fall off the ladder, through a table to the floor and King could walk out Champion.

Alberto’s announcer, the same long entrance to the ring.

WWE Rewind – Last Monday’s main event when Cena got involved to cost Wade the match.

Wade out to the ring by himself. He says to Cena that he must think Wade was born yesterday. He see through Cena’s plan. He’s had word from the RAW GM that Wade’s the only one with the power to get Cena back his job. Cena’s going to show up, attack Nexus, attack Wade and hopes Wade will get so frustrated that Cena will be reinstated so Wade can take it out on him. Cena won’t work in the WWE again. The one thing Cena had over Nexus was the element of surprise, but he doesn’t have that anymore. Nexus has Cena sussed out. They’ll get their hand son Cena and when they do, they’ll deliver the worst beating of Cena’s entire career. Wade keeps talking through Cena trying to cut him off.

Cena’s on announce. Cena says it’s not about keeping his job, it’s about keeping his word! He was fired because he kept his word, but he made another promise and he said he’s take out each and everyone of them. Wade says Cena’s in the parking lot, so security needs to get out there and – Cena says ‘surely’ Wade can’t be serious! (Love the Nielsen tribute!) WWE security? The same WWE security they beat down their first night there? They’re in no rush to get rid of Cena! He guesses that means it’s open season on Nexus. But then Husky, Otunga and Gabriel are there to get him. Wade says he called security to protect Cena.

Cena tells Nexus that he’s not the only enemy they have around there. The three of Nexus turn and are attacked by Kozlov, Zeke, Henry, Smith, Bryan, Yoshi and Young. Cena sends Gabriel head first into the side of a car, shattering the window. Then Cena grabs him and throws him into a pile of chairs, a barrel, two thick barrier pipes. Kozlov then slapped Gabriel in the face a couple times, taunting him. The boys is feeling it!
