Two New Teams for WWE’s Mixed Match Challenge Show Announced

WWE is getting ready to premiere the first episode of their upcoming Mixed Match Challenge show very soon. The show will see teams of male superstars team up with female superstars as they compete against other intergender teams in a tournament. The new series will be airing after the January 16th edition of Smackdown on Facebook Watch, which is interesting when considering that WWE has been considering moving their programming to online streaming services. The show will be premiering in just a matter of days, so WWE has been announced the male and female pairings over the past few days. Two new teams were announced today.
There is still no announcement of a replacement for Enzo Amore, who was removed from the tournament due to an illness, but four teams have been officially confirmed for the new show. It was revealed yesterday by Raw General Manager Kurt Angle that Braun Strowman and Alexa Bliss will be one of the teams in the upcoming tournament. Later on that day, Daniel Bryan confirmed that Charlotte Flair and Bobby Roode will also be teaming up during the show. Another set of teams have been officially named, and just like yesterday’s team announcements, one of them comes from the Raw brand and the other will represent Smackdown.

WWE confirmed earlier today that Raw stars Sasha Banks and Finn Bálor will be joining the tournament as a team. This marks the first time that “The Boss” and “The Demon King” have ever teamed up. The other team that was announced today is one that it a bit more familiar to fans. WWE later revealed that real-life husband and wife Rusev and Lana will be teaming up in the tournament. The pair did work together for a number of years, but this marks the first time that the couple has ever participated together in tag team action. Be sure to stay tuned as more teams for the Mixed Match Challenge continue to be announced.
