News on SummerSlam Main Event, Lesnar’s Opponent/Universal Title

According to Dave Meltzer on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio Program, even though Braun Strowman came out as the Money in the Bank Contract winner and appears to be the one to challenge Brock Lesnar for the WWE Universal Title at SummerSlam, it is still likely that Roman Reigns will be the one to beat Lesnar before that even happens.
The reason for this is that Reigns is in a position where he has to go over Lesnar before Lesnar leaves for the UFC since Roman has lost so many times in a row and failed to win the title. However, if SummerSlam in New York ends with Reigns winning, the audience will very likely “freak out” and respond with a chorus of boos.
One idea would be for Reigns to win the title from Lesnar but for Strowman to cash in his briefcase, beat Reigns and then end the show with Braun as the champion, letting everyone go home happy.
