London 2012: Woman quarter-finals were drawn

Yesterday, you could have found out the full cast of the Olympics woman volleyball tournament quarter-finals which were drawn at night. A game between Russia and Brazil seems to be the most appetizing for volleyball gourmets.

Russia – Brazil 07-Aug 15:00 local time/ 16:00 CET

Russia will face Brazil in quarter-final of the XXX Olympics in London. Russia won its group and will play against the fourth team of the other group – Brazil. The duo G& G (Gamova and Goncharova) was leading ‘Sporna’ to consecutive wins and these players must be well disposed to overcome Brazil. However, Canarinhos need to improve its significantly as against to that presented in the first round to compete with Russia.

Japan – China 07-Aug 13:00 local time/ 14:00 CET

Intra-Asian duel will probably full of numerous digs , very long and intensive actions. A favorite of this match will be the bronze medalist from Beijing – China, but Japan will try to stop Ruoqui Hui, who is the best Chinese scorer in London. Players from the Land of the Rising Sun will expect Yoshie Takeshita to direct Japan to the semi-finals.

Italy – Korea 07-Aug 21:00 local time/ 22:00 CET

A scenario of this quarter-final is already known before the match. Korea will rely on its leader Yeon- Koung Kim and hope that she will play as good as against China or Serbia. Italy want to stop Kim and show its own style with great defense and successful counter-attacks finished by Simona Gioli or Carolina Costagrande.

Dominican Republic – USA 07-Aug 19:00 local time/ 20:00 CET

USA is still unbeaten in London and it seems that it will not be changed in the quarter-final. Dominican Republic is not able to present such high level enough to threaten the major Olympic favorite. If USA show its normal play, the Grand Prix winner can beat Dominican Republic easily.   The only Hugh McCutcheon’s trouble is an injury of American setter Lindsey Berg, but she probably will be able to play.
