FBI Investigating Suspicious Package Sent To CNN
ATLANTA, GA — The FBI is investigating another suspicious package that had been addressed to CNN, this time in Atlanta. The package was intercepted Monday morning, according to CNN President Jeff Zucker. As of last Wednesday, Zucker said all mail is being screened off site, and while there is no imminent danger to CNN Atlanta, Zucker said the package wouldn’t have made it to the center in any event.
“Our screening process is working and we will keep you updated as we learn more,” Zucker said. The package was intercepted at 400 Pryor Street, and the FBI Atlanta bomb squad is responding, according to the bureau.
The delivery comes after Cesar Sayoc, 56, was arrested last week. Sayoc is accused of mailing crude pipe bombs to prominent Democrats and critics of the Trump administration through a latent fingerprint found on one of the envelopes addressed to California Congresswoman Maxine Waters, according to FBI Director Chris Wray. Sayoc has been charged with five federal crimes, including mailing explosives and threatening former U.S. presidents, and faces up to 48 years in prison if convicted.
There is no word yet as to whether Sayoc is a suspect in Monday morning’s delivery, or if any suspects have been arrested. The FBI said the package was similar in appearance to those allegedly sent by Sayoc.

The FBI said Friday that so far, 13 explosive devices were sent to various individuals across the country. Suspicious packages were also mailed to former President Barack Obama and former Vice President Joe Biden; former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton; Democratic donor George Soros; former CIA Director John Brennan; former Attorney General Eric Holder; Waters; and actor Robert De Niro, a vocal Trump critic. The package to Brennan was mailed to CNN.

Sayoc’s arrest came as three additional suspicious devices — one addressed to New Jersey Democratic Sen. Cory Booker, another to former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and a third to California Democratic Sen. Kamala Harris — were found on Friday, according to officials and news reports.
