Anthony Bourdain Found Dead at 61 of Apparent Suicide

Acclaimed chef, author, and TV host Anthony Bourdain, 61, was found dead in a hotel room in France Friday morning, CNN reports.

The network released the following statement confirming the news: “It is with extraordinary sadness we can confirm the death of our friend and colleague, Anthony Bourdain. His love of great adventure, new friends, fine food and drink and the remarkable stories of the world made him a unique storyteller. His talents never ceased to amaze us and we will miss him very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with his daughter and family at this incredibly difficult time.”

The Emmy and Peabody Award winner’s death was ruled an apparent suicide, according to CNN. This comes just days following the news of fashion designer Kate Spade’s suicide at the age of 55.
