Neymar annoys the Brazilian FA with Bolsonaro support
L’Équipe report that Paris Saint-Germain attacker Neymar has annoyed the Brazilian FA after publicly showing his support for presidential candidate Jair Bolsonaro.
In September, the Brazil national team manager Tite and his players agreed not to get involved in any controversial subject that could evoke an angry reaction from the general public and tarnish the morale within the group.
Now it appears that Neymar has broken the agreement by supporting the far-right incumbent, who is through to the second round of the election Sunday..
It is understood that the duel between Lula and Bolsonaro is the most sensitive and divisive topic in Brazil at the moment. The Brazilian FA reportedly thinks that Neymar’s support for the controversial candidate could impact the number of supporters intending to back the national side in the upcoming World Cup in Qatar.
The 30-year-old participated in a YouTube live stream along with the far-right candidate recently. During that live stream, Neymar also made a promise that he would celebrate his first goal in Qatar by making the sign 22, which is the electoral code of the President of Brazil since 2019. A part of the Brazilian FA also thinks that Neymar showed a lack of common sense by getting involved in such a controversial issue.
