Official | RC Strasbourg complete loan signing of Yuito Suzuki

RC Strasbourg have announced the signing of Japanese attacking midfielder Yuito Suzuki on loan until the end of the season. His contract with Le Racing includes an option to buy.

Suzuki’s parent club, Shimizu S-Pulse, play in the second tier of Japanese football, after being relegated at the end of last season’s campaign. The 21-year-old has been seeking pastures new, and will hope to play an important role in Alsace as Strasbourg look to avoid a return to Ligue 2. Le Racing had spent 9 seasons in France’s second division before promotion in the 2016/17 season. But they have struggled to hit the ground running during the current campaign, sitting just outside of the relegation spots in 16th. Only goal difference separates them from the two teams below (Brest: 17th, Ajaccio: 18th).

At 20, Suzuki scored three goals and provided two assists across the opening 16 league games in the J-League last season, before a thigh injury saw him sidelined for 11 matches. While Shimizu were eventually relegated, Suzuki’s youth and calibre have attracted the attention of European clubs. La Liga’s RCD Mallorca were also interested in the Japanese youth international, but he has opted for the Rhine over the Mediterranean.

Suzuki is Strasbourg’s fourth signing during this transfer window, after the arrivals of Frédéric Guilbert, Eduard Sobol, and Morgan Sanson.
