WWE Issues Statement Claiming Jordan Myles Approved Controversial T-Shirt

WWE has responded to a series of statements made this weekend by NXT Superstar Jordan Myles (fka ACH), condemning a recent t-shirt design put out by the company’s merchandising department.

As previously reported, the design featured Myles’ name in white text surrounded by a red smile, on a black shirt, which bares obvious resemblance to racist imagery historically used to depict African-Americans as offensive stereotypes.

Myles took to Twitter stating, “If this is Vince McMahon & Triple H’s vision of me then this is a slap in the face to EVERY African American performer, fan, and supporter.” He later encouraged supporters to “protest” by turning their profile pictures black-and-white and using the hashtag “ForTheCulture”.

So far, numerous individuals from around the wrestling business have shown their support, including Cedric Alexander, Trey Miguel, Eddie Kingston, Cheeseburger, Stephen Wolf, Myron Reed, AEW stars Sonny Kiss, Joey Janela and Nyla Rose.

WWE issued the following statement to Pro Wrestling Sheet:

“Albert Hardie Jr. (aka Jordan Myles) approved this t-shirt for sale. As always, we work collaboratively with all of our performers to develop logos and merchandise designs and get their input and approval before proceeding. This was the same process with Albert, and we responded swiftly once he later requested that the logo/t-shirt be redesigned. No t-shirts were sold.”
