Omega, Takeshita & Nakazawa six-man set for AEW Dark: Elevation
This story was updated at 10:30 PM Eastern.
AEW World Champion Kenny Omega broke the news to Konosuke Takeshita on Dark: Elevation that he will team with Michael Nakazawa on next week’s Elevation against Mike and Matt Sydal.
Shortly thereafter, AEW tweeted that Tony Khan didn’t approve the match and instead announced that Omega will join the Takashita/Nakazawa team to take on the Sydals and Danny Limelight instead.
In a backstage promo, Omega welcomed Takeshita to AEW and said they were doing some scouting. He said when he first came to DDT, Takeshita put a roof over his head, food in his mouth and money in his pocket but now it was time for Takeshita to pay him back and take out the Sydals.
Takeshita thought he was teaming with Omega, but Omega laughed it off and said he would team with Nakasawa instead which he didn’t care for.
Takeshita made his surprise AEW debut last Friday in the company’s first house in an eight-man tag that included Omega, Nakazawa and the Sydals. He followed that up with a win over Limelight on Elevation in his first televised match for the promotion.
