Cody & Red Velvet challenge Shaq & Jade Cargill for AEW Revolution
On Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite, Cody Rhodes and Red Velvet made a challenge to Shaquille O’Neal and Jade Cargill for March 7th’s Revolution pay-per-view.
Rhodes came out for a promo and said he thought it would his wife, Brandi, joining him to challenge the two, but she’s pregnant. He seemed resigned that the match couldn’t happen, but as part of his own promo, Arn Anderson asked Velvet to come down, saying she had the fire inside her.
She then cut a spirited promo on Cargill and made the challenge, saying that Rhodes couldn’t lay her hands on Cargill so she would instead. Cargill and Velvet have been involved in several pull-aparts in recent weeks as Velvet is aligned with the Nightmare Family.
As Tony Schiavone quipped to end the segment, the ball is in O’Neal and Cargill’s court. This would be the first match in AEW for either person despite Cargill making her on-screen debut in mid-November.
During Wednesday’s AEW Awards show, O’Neal challenged Rhodes to a match in March, adding that he looked like a punk and a girl with his blonde hair.
Revolution has just one official match announced thus far: Sting and TNT Champion Darby Allin vs. Brian Cage and Ricky Starks of Team Taz in a street fight.
