Last year’s winner has declared for the 2021 women’s Royal Rumble match.
Ahead of Monday’s Legends Night edition of Raw, WWE uploaded video of an interview where Charlotte Flair announced that she’s entering the 2021 women’s Royal Rumble. Charlotte won last year’s Rumble and went on to defeat Rhea Ripley for the NXT Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 36.
Charlotte & Raw Women’s Champion Asuka are the current WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. Charlotte made her return at last month’s TLC pay-per-view, teaming with Asuka to win the Women’s Tag Team titles from Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler. Charlotte had been away from WWE television for six months before returning.
Charlotte & Asuka made their first title defense by defeating SmackDown Women’s Champion Sasha Banks & Bianca Belair and Bayley & Carmella in a triple threat elimination match on the Christmas Day episode of SmackDown.
Jax declared for the 2021 women’s Royal Rumble match last week.
This year’s Royal Rumble is taking place on Sunday, January 31. There will be men’s and women’s Royal Rumble matches at the PPV. Daniel Bryan and United States Champion Bobby Lashley are the first two wrestlers to declare for the men’s Royal Rumble match.
