Asuka Changes Finisher? Impact Wants Brian Cage, New WWE Team
With recent reports suggesting that Ronda Rousey’s official signing with WWE is imminent, it is no surprise to learn that the company reportedly already has some huge matches lined up for her. In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer revealed that one such match being planned for 2018 involves Rousey taking on Asuka. Rather than using an Asuka Lock during her match against Alicia Fox on Raw, Asuka submitted Fox with an armbar. The finisher change was reportedly done since Rousey used the armbar during her MMA career. Given the fact that Rousey became known for her undefeated streak in MMA, it would be intriguing to see if she could end Asuka’s own undefeated streak at some point.
Rusev and Lana’s onscreen partnership may be in the past, but the recent pairing between “The Bulgarian Brute” and Aiden English on Smackdown has proved to be greatly entertaining thus far. It appears that the two are now officially a tag team on the blue brand since WWE put out a short video of Shelton Benjamin and Chad Gable being interviewed about the Fatal 4-Way tag team match at Clash of Champions. During the interview, the two were asked about Rusev and English being inserted into the match, and the team was referred to as “Rusev Day.” Now that the pair officially have a team name, we’ll have to wait and see if they can win the tag team titles at the pay-per-view on December 17th.

Despite the large exodus of talent from Impact Wrestling this year, the company has not given up on attempting to sign some big names to their roster. It is now being reported by PWInsider that Impact is interested in signing top independent wrestling sensation Brian Cage. Cage has not announced whether or not he plans on returning to Lucha Underground, but a working relationship between the AAA promotion and Impact Wrestling would allow him to appear in both promotions if he desires to do so. Cage is currently one of the biggest and most impressive stars on the indy circuit right now, but do not be surprised to see him step into the Impact Zone very soon.
