Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Saudi Arabia’s 32-year-old new heir to the throne, is an aggressive reformer who hopes to transform his country’s economy and lead it to a more assertive position on the world stage but has also been accused of widespread human rights violations. 

Widely known by his initials “MBS”, Prince Mohammed is the youngest son of the current monarch King Salman and a favourite among his 13 children. He has been groomed for leadership ever since his father King Salman took the throne in 2015.

Prince Mohammed was appointed defence minister at the age 29 but his authority is not limited to military affairs, earning him the nickname “Mr Everything” from some foreign diplomats….
