Why Jericho Was Replaced in GRR Casket Match, Bliss Update, Storm

The Greatest Royal Rumble show from Saudi Arabia featured the in-ring return of The Undertaker. Fans may remember that The Undertaker defeated Rusev in a Casket Match during the show. Rusev had originally been announced as Undertaker’s opponent for the show, but he was later replaced by Chris Jericho, only to once again be put back in the Casket Match later on. The Wrestling Observer has provided a few updates on why these changes took place. According to the report, Jericho was taken out of the match after a Saudi prince specifically demanded that Rusev be put back in the Casket Match. WWE apparently decided to listen to this request. Jericho competed in the 50-man Royal Rumble match later that night instead.
After losing a rematch for the Raw Women’s Championship to Nia Jax at the recent Backlash pay-per-view, Alexa Bliss is no longer the top contender to the title. There appeared to be some fear among fans that Bliss received an injury during her match against Jax, and WWE even posted an announcement claiming that Bliss injured her left shoulder. Cageside Seats has noted that Bliss just wrestled on the first show on WWE’s ongoing United Kingdom tour, and she is also currently scheduled to compete at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view next month. The report speculates that Bliss’ reported injury was either not a very serious one or it may just be part of a storyline.
One of the greatest competitors from the Mae Young Classic tournament on the WWE Network last summer was Toni Storm. Storm is a young but incredibly talented wrestler who has already accomplished a lot in the industry, including becoming the first-ever PROGRESS Women’s Champion. A lot of WWE fans remain surprised that the company has not signed her to some sort of deal yet, but it looks like she will indeed be coming back to compete in a WWE ring again very soon. Squared Circle Sirens has just reported that Storm was advertised to compete at WWE’s upcoming United Kingdom Championship tournament show during a WWE live event in Bournemouth.
