Serie A1: the 16th loss of CMC Ravenna

The 18th round of Serie A1 Sustenium bitter again for the team led by coach Babini. Great performance of Stefano Moro wasn’t enough to beat Verona.

 

In PalaOlimpia in Verona gathered together 3.000 spectators to see the last match of the round between Marmi Lanza and CMC Ravenna. Coach Bagnoli guided the team from Veneto for the 200th time. In the first part of the game the hosts dominated on the court in every element of the volleyball art with strong attacks and biting service. The next set was more balanced, but personal errors of the guests didn’t allow them to win this part. The fight continued in the 3rd set and thanks to efficient game of Moro and Sirri the team from Emilia-Romagna could celebrate winning set. However, their enthusiasm finished their opponents who weren’t going to let out three points, returning to their great game in block and taking advantage of errors of the guests.

The result 3-1 brings Verona on the 7th place in the classification (25 points), Ravenna closes the table with 9 points. The public could see an excellent performance of Mitja Gasparini (23 points scored in sum) and Robert Kromm that led their team to the crucial result that cancels recent loss against Padova. In statistics: 11 blocks of Verona – 9 of Ravenna, 8 personal aces of the hosts – 7 of the opponents, 56%-efficiency in attack Verona – 45% Ravenna. The MVP of the match was Robert Kromm with 18 points: 4 personal aces and 14 efficient attacks. From the other side the best was Stefano Moro with 23 points and 51% in attack.

In other matches of the 18th round Latina won in five sets over Acqua Paradiso Monza Brianza (Fragkos MVP), in Belluno M.Roma Volley lost 2-3 against the hosts of Sisley (Ogurcak MVP). The Champions from Trento won without problems over San Giustino 3-0 (Juantorena MVP), leading now in the classification with 8 points of advantage over second Macerata, that after a win in the first two sets against Cuneo, lost in tie-break (Vesely MVP). After 2 defeats in a row, Casa Modena claimed a victory over Fidia Padova 3-0 (Piscopo MVP).
