Death Wish? Seattle Man Steals From Highly Trained Girl Scouts

SEATTLE, WA — The Girl Scouts might seem like an easy mark. They deal in cash, are really nice, and can’t run that fast. But Seattle police are reminding one local thief that Girls Scouts are also highly trained: they do archery, know how to write computer code, and can survive outdoors for long periods.

According to police, a man swiped $600 from a table of Girl Scouts set up at the Northgate QFC along Roosevelt Avenue on Monday night. The man fled the scene on foot, but police were able to grab some surveillance images of the suspect.

(And QFC, it appears, is going to reimburse the scouts, according to Q13.)

Police are hoping someone recognizes him — before the Girl Scouts get to him first.

“If you recognize the man, please contact the North Precinct detectives at (206) 684-5735 before, hypothetically, a small, highly-mobile team of Girl Scouts armed with bows, poison-tipped arrows, and a Terminator-like unflinching dedication to relentlessly pursuing their target do,” Seattle police wrote.

Girl Scouts are out in force in Puget Sound right now selling cookies. In April 2018, two men robbed a Girl Scouts table at a Fred Meyer in Tacoma. But Haliyah DuBois, the 10-year-old girl robbed that day, didn’t back down — she was back selling cookies at the scene of the robbery just a few days later.
