Bellagio Casino Robbery Ends With Gunfire Between Suspect, Cops

LAS VEGAS, NV — A suspect who robbed a poker room at the Bellagio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas before attempting to carjack someone in the valet area is in critical condition after exchanging gunfire with cops, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said.

Police said they were following up on an investigation at the casino around 9:50 p.m. on Friday when they received information about a robbery in progress.

After the robbery, the suspect ran into the valet area with a handgun, according to police.

The suspect was then confronted by four police officers when he turned and aimed his gun at one of the officers, according to police. The suspect fired his gun and struck the officer in the vest, police said.

A second officer returned fire and struck the suspect one time, police said.

The officer and the suspect were taken to the hospital for treatment. The officer has been treated and released while the suspect is in critical condition, police said.

Police said it’s the fourth officer-invovled shooting for the department in 2019. The names of the officers involved will be released after 48 hours.

The investigation is ongoing.
