Western Railway’s Gangman Hit By Train While Saving Life Of A Man Crossing Tracks

A WR gangman was struck by a Bandra-bound local while saving the life of a man crossing the tracks near Andheri on Saturday morning, suffering multiple fractures that might shorten his rail service.

The shoulder bones of Chandrakant Madre, 54, have been badly damaged and he seems to have lost a day’s memory — all because someone made the awful choice of trespassing on a section of six track lines during peak hours.

The trespasser was a passenger of Doronto Express which had halted on the fast line for Churchgate between Andheri and Jogeshwari around 9:30 am. Described by witnesses as an elderly man, he got off the train with his luggage and started crossing the section.
